Republic Ups Blair

UP IN THE BLAIR: Look for veteran promo exec Dennis Blair to be named SVP of Rock Formats at Republic Records from his former post of VP. Among his breakthroughs at Rock and Alternative radio are Gotye, Alex Clare, Of Monsters and Men and Volbeat. He will be heading campaigns for Soundgarden and Hinder through the end of the year. Republic Founder/CEO Monte Lipman says, “His work ethic and determination have proven inspirational for the entire team and led to incredible accomplishments for our artists. One day, I even hope to meet him.” Blair joined Republic as VP Alternative Promotion in 2008. He was previous Sr. Director Rock/Alternative for RCA Records, working with the Strokes, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Velvet Revolver, My Morning Jacket and Kings of Leon, among others. He started as a local promotion manager based in S.F. and was promoted to Sr. Director of Rock/Alternative for Maverick Records. He was Director of Rock Promotion for Geffen from 1993-’97, starting off as assistant to the label’s President/CEO Ed Rosenblatt. (11/19p)
