Ticketmaster+

A NET PLUS: Ticketmaster has beta-launched Ticketmaster Plus, which enables consumers to view available unsold and resale event tickets within the same interface. The Live Nation-owned firm's new online system is another blow against scalpers, since fans seeking tix for concerts and games can comparison-shop on a single screen before springing for broker-held and other resale offerings, the prices of which are often hugely inflated. If fans can choose cheaper unsold tickets instead, their savings can be substantial (and Ticketmaster collects fees either way). Ticketmaster has also taken aim at bots, software apps used by scalpers to grab large numbers of tickets the instant on-sales begin. Ticketmaster Plus, still in test mode, could give the firm a bigger chunk of the resale-ticket market, which is said to be worth more than $4 billion. (9/9a)
