iTunes charts

DOWNLOAD THIS: Much like seven days ago, the iTunes charts on this turnover Tuesday dramatize a collision between a batch of new releases and the lingering effects of a TV-driven spike. A pair of Columbia arrivals—from Little Mix and Broken Bells—extends the label’s hot streak, with Motown's Toni Braxton-Babyface collab hot on their heels. As expected, Now 49 is also off to a good start, but so is the latest from Within Temptation, a veteran Dutch metal band that was admittedly not on our radar. Meanwhile, the colossal audience for Sunday’s Super Bowl (see next item) continues to have a big impact 36 hours after the end of the game, benefiting Bruno Mars, who’s riding a rare double-double, and Passenger, whose puppy-aided “Let Her Go” remains at #2, sandwiched by smash singles from Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, while the album hangs around at #12. Update: Since we assembled the above graphic, Little Mix has jumped Bruno to grab the top spot on the album chart. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the week plays out for all of the above.
