Rapino LES story

THEY'VE GOT A LIVE ONE: He is the one known as "The Ticketmaster." A London Evening Standard story offers a profile of Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, noting the British venues contributing to the company's $6.5 billion in revenue last year include "the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Reading and Leeds festivals and the Calling festival that will see Aerosmith rock out Clapham Common." There are numerous quotes from Rapino himself, whose own travel schedule rivals that of many star acts. “Live is definitely the way that 90 per cent-plus of [artists'] revenue is made in a year,” he says in the piece. “If all of these artists have to pay their bills by going on the road, that means they are going on the road. Just like we all do. We go to work because we’ve got to pay the bills.” (3/11a)
