YOUR SUPERHEROES V. CARTOON ANIMALS WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: In its second week, the Captain America sequel edged the debuting Rio sequel, as both ended up in the $40 million neighborhood, putting them way ahead of the field.

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Disney) – $41.4m (-56.4%), 3,938/$10,512 avg. (week 2)
2. Rio 2 (Fox) – $39m, 3,948/$9,878 avg. (debut)
3. Oculus (Relativity) – $12m, 2,648/$4,532 avg. (debut)
4. Draft Day (Lionsgate) – $9.75m, 2,781/$3,506 avg. (debut)
5. Divergent (Lionsgate) – $7.5m (-42.2%), 3,110/$2,412 avg. (week 4)

In its third week, Darren Aronofsky’s Noah dropped to #6 with $7.45m (-56.3%) and now appears to be in danger of falling short of its $125m budget in domestic earnings. Critics have panned the film, calling it over the top, but God has yet to voice His opinion. (4/14a)
