YE JOLLY OLDE iTUNES U.K. CHARTS: On this Friday, the picture is gloomy for England’s World Cup prospects, but things couldn’t look brighter for Ed Sheeran. Sure, Lana Del Rey is outselling his album, but he can take solace in having five of the top six songs, broken up only by last week’s chart-topper from X Factor alumna Ella Henderson—and when was the last time anyone went five for six on any chart? Otherwise, several acts are showing staying power. The debuting Linkin Park has a bigger following in the British Isles than we’d expected, Sam Smith is rolling along four weeks after the U.K. release of In the Lonely Hour, Coldplay is hanging around five weeks in and Kasabian is giving off star power in week two, even if it doesn’t travel particularly well.
