THE DAWN OF SHAWN: “Life of the Party,” the debut single from Island teen heartthrob Shawn Mendes, rocketed to #1 on iTunes less than an hour after going up for sale at midnight. The 15-year-old Toronto native became a YouTube sensation for his clever covers of hits by Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and others. Mendes has nearly 1.2 million fans on Twitter and is a top-followed musician on Vine — where he posts 6-second acoustic sessions covering popular acts (thanks to MTV.com for the deets and links).
