UK Top 10

NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE U.K. TOP 10: Max Lousada’s Warner Music U.K. is hotter than July, as Ed Sheeran scores the year’s biggest debut with 182k, beating the first week of Coldplay’s Ghost Stories by 14k, according to the Official Charts Company.  The company has the week’s only other Top 10 bow with Mastodon, while Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love has been lodged on the leaderboard since its release 11 weeks ago, and Linkin Park proves to be more popular in Britain than we expected. Sam Smith (in week five) is making a deep impression on both sides of the pond, and Lana Del Rey (in week two) has another transatlantic hit.

The Glastonbury spike was apparent below the Top 10, as Elbow (#58-19), Rudimental (#83-24) and HAIM (#92-40) made big jumps, as did Arcade Fire (#110-25), who headlined the fest on Friday night (check out their perf of “Reflektor”). And speaking of Stevie Wonder (see Hotter Than July reference above), his 1976 classic Songs in the Key of Life returns to the chart 38 years later at #14 after the BBC selected album track “Another Star” as the theme of its World Cup coverage.
