BIG UPS FOR YEGELMEISTER: At Island, Steve Yegelwel has been promoted to SVP by label prexy David Massey. Now, along with his continuing A&R involvement, Yegelwel will also work closely with EVP/GM Eric Wong on marketing campaigns in support of Island’s up-and-coming developing artists. “Steve is that rare breed of music executive who compliments his love of A&R with even broader knowledge of artist development strategies, a combination that will serve him well in this next phase of his career at Island,” Massey enthused. “Island Records has afforded me the opportunity to bring all my abilities to the table in A&R and artist development,” offered Yegelwel, whose signings include American Authors. “It's an incredibly exciting time for Island, and I look forward to continue working alongside David Massey, Eric Wong and the great staff and artist roster.” Yegelwel had been SVP at Mercury/Island since 2012, following a productive run at S-Curve, where he was president, signing Fountains of Wayne and We the Kings.
