Counting Crows setup

CHALKING UP ANOTHER ONE: Capitol has launched a multifaceted campaign surrounding the 9/2 release of the Counting CrowsSomewhere Under Wonderland, with key elements including the lyric video for “Scarecrow” (featuring a chalk rendering of the cover art), and the long-form piece for “Palisades Park" (click here to see it). There will be major TV visibility week of release, with scheduled appearances on The Today Show, Live With Kelly & Michael and Seth Meyers. The band, which just completed a sold-out U.S. tour, will also perform on NPR’s World Café. Meanwhile, on the street level—literally—live 3-D chalk art was created in front of the Capitol Tower on Tuesday for “Earthquake Driver,” and chalk art on five additional tracks will be drawn at various locations in NYC next week leading up to Counting Crows’ 8/31 gig at Irving Plaza. Very clever, and so tangible. (8/21a)
