iTunes UK charts

YE JOLLY OLDE ITUNES U.K. CHARTS: Seven days ago, “All About That Bass” was #8 on the singles chart—in a cover version tagged “Workout Mix” from some outfit calling itself Power Music Workout. What a difference seven days makes, as Meghan Trainor’s original duplicates its stateside success, zooming from left field to #1. Can’t wait to see where the record will be in next week’s Top 10; it’s sitting at #33 on the overall U.K. weekly sales chart, an upward move of 20 slots from the previous week. The Epic rookie punctuates the hot streak of the Jason Iley-led Sony Music U.K., which also has the chart-topping album in George Ezra, the biggest breakthrough in Britain this year apart from Capitol’s Sam Smith. Sony has four albums and three singles on the leaderboard. (10/3a)
