Nashville’s The Civil Wars are a hybrid duo featuring Joy Williams and John Paul White that has caused a commotion with their full-length debut, Barton Hollow, on their own sensibility records, which has sold 57k albums in less than two months. With big video play on the title track from early adopter CMT, thanks to believer Jay Frank, the duo’s album climbed at #1 on iTunes on its first week of release. Look for stateside headline tour dates after a flurry of well-received SXSW performances. Early radio partners include KFOG and WZGC, with band making appearances on The Tonight Show and NPR’s All Things Considered last month.
