It’s amazing to see her talent being so widely recognized with no big machine doing the pushing.

WHEELS 2.0 LIGHTS A FIRECRACKER

No Label, No Pub Deal, No Problem
By Jesse Beer-Dietz

In last week’s edition, we named the Top 5 acts whose music crossed the Wheels desk during the first quarter of 2011. We’re following it up with our first big find of Q2. Still unsigned and unpublished, this up-and-comer is poised to break wide-open. Keep feedin’ the inbox: [email protected].

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Nikki Kummerow:
This Aussie singer/songwriter released her debut album in the States this week, and it’s already climbing the iTunes chart. Produced by Aaron Marsh, frontman of the now-defunct indie-darling band Copeland, the album, fittingly titled Firecracker, is currently the #2 singer/songwriter album in her homeland. She’s completely unsigned and unpublished, and it’s amazing to see her talent being so widely recognized with no big machine doing the pushing. We expect the weasels to be coming out in full force in the coming weeks, if not sooner, and why not? Nikki is blessed with an amazing voice and memorable songs, and she’s proving her worth. You can stream her album at http://nikkikummerow.bandcamp.com/, or pick up the a digital copy here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/firecracker/id433342305. Contact BJ Olin for more info.
