“Richard is one of the most respected and proven executives in urban music today."

NASH CAPITOLIZES
ON EMI URBAN PROMO

Veteran Promotion Exec Latest to Join EMI
It was a rumor last week and now it's official because the press release has arrived.

Promo vet Richard Nash is named SVP Urban Promotion for EMI Music N.A., based in N.Y. and reporting to EVP Promotion Greg Thompson.

Nash comes to EMI from PlayTyme Entertainment, an indie label and promotion company he established in 2004, with a roster that included Shanice Wilson and alt-rock band Kunek, formed by All American Rejects' Jesse Tabish. Nash also recently consulted on EMI artist Al Green’s latest album, Lay It Down.

Thompson's relationship with Nash goes back to Elektra Records, where Greg was EVP Promotion/GM and Richard was SVP Promotion, reporting to label head Sylvia Rhone. While there, Nash was an instrumental part in building careers for such artists as Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Keith Sweat and Gerald LeVert. Before that, he was SVP Promotion and Marketing at Atlantic Records, where he helped establish artists such as En Vogue and Brandy, whose first two albums sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S. alone. Nash began his career in 1980 as a local promotion representative for Atlantic in Cleveland.

Commented Thompson: “Richard is one of the most respected and proven executives in urban music today. We are very excited to have him lend his leadership, creativity and relationships to EMI’s roster across North America. Now, let's see him crossover 'I Kissed a Girl.'”

Added Nash: “I’m looking forward to joining EMI as the company redefines the role of a major label and works to deliver world class services to artists. I’m all about building careers and I can’t wait to do that for EMI’s urban roster. By the way, who's on EMI's urban roster?”
