We’re truly ecstatic about the announcement of Rage Against the Machine’s headline slot at this year’s Coachella, having been a fan of the band since their beginnings, all the way back to Tom Morello’s earlier outfit, Lock Up. And catching one of Rage’s early shows at UCLA in the tiny student union was one of the reasons why we got in this loony business. (In hindsight, maybe we should have continued on to law school.) So we just want to remind you folks that this space was the first to report on a Rage reunion several months ago. As of now, the band’s management remains split, with Dan Field handling Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford, while William Morris’ Sarah Newkirk has been managing Zack de la Rocha for his solo project. Inside sources share that the moves to reunite and do a one-off show came directly from the band. No word yet on future tour plans or an album. But if a new Rage album came together, it would be released on Epic. We’ll definitely be in the desert in April. And much respect to A&R vet Michael Goldstone for signing one of our favorite bands… KROQ BUZZ LEADS TO
