CHART PREVIEW: SIX FOR 50?

Sixth Week at #1 for Mr. Cent Could Be in Jeopardy as Faith Evans Comes on Strong
For a sixth week in a row, it looks like 50 Cent’s The Massacre (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) will be #1. The multiplatinum album is expected to notch another 160k-165k with this week's chart.

But not so fast: As of late Monday, Faith EvansThe First Lady (Capitol) now looks like it will come on the chart with around 160k in first-week sales. Can she catch 50? It's going to be very close.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Top Five looks like it will be Now 18 (Epic) with another 75k-80k sold, Beck’s Guero (Interscope) with 65k-70k and Green Day's American Idiot (Reprise), One Twelve’s Pleaure & Pain (Def Soul), Will Smith's Lost & Found (Interscope) or Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams (Brushfire/Universal), each of which look like they'll finish in the 55k-60k range.

At this point, Lisa Marie Presley’s Now What (Capitol) appears likely to come on the chart with first-week sales of 50k-55k, giving Capitol the two top debuts for the week. However, fellow debut Donnie McClurkin’s Psalms, Hymns and Spritual Songs (Verity), The Killers' Hot Fuss (Island) and Beanie Sigel's The B. Coming (Def Jam) each also look like 50k-55k now, so we'll have to wait and see how they shake out.

Albums hitting the street this week include Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi (Island), which retailers are anticipating will sell around 250k in its first week, meaning it will be the one to dethrone 50 Cent if Faith doesn't this week, and Mudvayne’s Lost and Found (Epic), which is expected to hit 100k or so.
