LITTLE STEVEN’S ARBITRON GARAGE
In between working with his boss, The Boss, on a celebrated, top-selling album and reunion tour with the E Street Band, not to mention co-starring in HBO’s hyper-celebrated series The Sopranos, the versatile performer has been gathering accolades for his syndicated radio show, Hard Rock Cafe Presents Little Steven’s Underground Garage.
Mixing classic and contemporary garage rock, the weekly show’s gotten off-the-hook reviews. But now it seems Van Zandt can add killer ratings to his string of recent accomplishments.
According to the Spring Arbitron ratings, the show has—in the three months since it began airing—helped WAXQ New York kick up 25-54 male listener share for its timeslot from a 1.6 to a 5.1, and to leapfrog 0.7-4.2 among the 18-34 male demo. WBGG Miami, meanwhile, jumped 2.5-9.6 among 25-54 year-old-guys.
Two stations, KKRW Houston and KDKB Phoenix, vaulted out of zero ratings in the timeslot for male listeners 18-34, reaching 2.9 and 9.6, respectively, in the Spring book. KDKB also jumped 0.0-3.6 in the 25-54 group.
Among other stations that have enjoyed spikes in both demos are KPLN San Diego (1.2-4.5 for 18-34; 4.5-7.5 for 25-54) and WHJY Providence (7.1-19.8 for 18-34; 3.9-6.4 for 25-54).
