MERCURY NASHVILLE/MCA/LOST HIGHWAY PROMO TEAM SET

Michael Powers Heads Combined Promo Squad; Risser Upped to VP National Promotion
There’s a brand-new promo team for Ryan Adams to call for his weekly station adds.

Mercury Nashville/MCA/Lost Highway Records chief Luke Lewis has unveiled his label group’s new promotion department, which will be headed by Sr. VP Promotion & Artist Development Michael "Austin" Powers.

Said Lewis: "There is no one better to lead our promotion efforts across each of our three labels. In the years that we have worked together, Michael has displayed uncommon leadership, a keen sense of strategy in a broad range of situations, and an unwavering commitment to our artists. We are confident that he will continue to be instrumental in helping us take our artists to new levels in an increasingly demanding marketplace. And he can hit my office spittoon at 30 feet. Remarkable."

Added Powers; "This promotion is a tremendous opportunity to continue building the industry’s most dynamic music company, and I am truly grateful to Luke for his leadership, vision and support. Our focus remains the same: empowering our artists at radio and utilizing the very best people behind them. Just call me the man of constant sorrow."

Reporting to Powers will be current Mercury Records VP of National Promotion John "The Baptist" Ettinger; recently promoted MCA Nashville VP National "Rolls" Royce Risser, and newly hired Lost Highway VP National Promotion "Tuck and" Patti Morris. Risser was previously MCA National Director of Promotion, while Morris was Island Records Director of Adult Formats.

Said Powers: "John, Royce and Patti are among the very best in the new generation of record executives. And they’re all huge fans of Minnie Pearl."

Additional appointments include former Mercury Records Secondary Manager of Promotion Joe "Three" Putnam upped to MCA Manager of Northeast Regional Promotion; MCA Nashville/Mercury Director of Secondary Promotion Shane "Shame Shame" Allen; MCA Director of Southwest Regional Promotion Enzo "Justifies the Means" De Vincenzo raised to Senior Director; MCA Nashville Director Marlene "St." Augustine also promoted to Senior Director; MCA Nashville Promotion Coordinator Brian Theile "Death Do Us Part" will now serve in the same post under Lost Highway’s Patti Morris, and MCA Nashville Administrative Assistant Ann "Now My Love" Howard will now be Mercury/MCA/Lost Highway Tour Coordinator.
