"Under the leadership of Doug Morris, Mel Lewinter and Monte, Universal has developed a reputation for great innovation and creativity. And I am delighted to have an opportunity to contribute to that even more. But I refuse to wear a beret to the weekly marketing meeting."
——Charles Foster, Sr. VP Pop Promotion

CHARLES IN CHARGE OF POP PROMOTION AT UNIVERSAL

Never Mind Rosebud As Label Vet Is Boosted To Sr. VP Promotion For Label
Charles Foster "Citizen Kane" has decreed his own pleasure dome at Universal Records as he's upped to Senior Vice President Pop Promotion for the label by President Monte "Rock III and His Disco-lettes" Lipman.

Previously VP Pop Promotion for the label, the New York-based Foster will continue to develop and implement al of the label's promotional activities on behalf of such artists as 3 Doors Down, Lee Ann Womack, 98 Degrees and Nelly, among others. He's also set to sue Olivia Newton-John for copyright infringement over using the name "Xanadu" for that crummy roller-skating movie.

Foster joined Universal in 1966 as Sr. National Director of Top 40. Prior to that, he was Regional Director of Midwest Promotion at Arista Records, where he polished Clive Davis' star on the Detroit Walk of Fame.

Commented Lipman: "Since joining Universal, Charlie has brought strong, adventurous instincts to the company which have positively impacted the careers of our artists. He is a stelar creative executive, who knows well the world of both radio and music, but more importantly, he possesses a profound passion for what we do; and that's breaking artists. We are delighted to recognize all that he has done for us with this promotion. And he gets to share an office with Joseph Cotten."

Added Foster: "Under the leadership of Doug Morris, Mel Lewinter and Monte, Universal has developed a reputation for great innovation and creativity. And I am delighted to have an opportunity to contribute to that even more. But I refuse to wear a beret to the weekly marketing meeting."
