NEW MACCA SPREADS WINGS

McCartney's Double-CD "Wingspan" Looks To Top 200k, "Moulin Rouge" Soundtrack Moves Around 80k, Island's Sum-41 Has Impressive Bow
And a Beatle shall lead them...again.

Fresh from Capitol's seven-million-selling Beatles compilation, "1," Paul McCartney's two-CD "Wingspan," a retrospective of his solo career highlighting the romance with his late wife (and Wings bandmate) Linda, is headed over the 200k mark in first-week sales, based on one-day reports from retailers around the country. That number could go even higher after this Friday evening's prime-time special on ABC, and an active Mother's Day shopping weekend. And while Destiny's Child should continue in the top spot, McCartney could give Janet a run for #2 if its sales approach 250k.

The McCartney album tops a list of releases that also includes Interscope's "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack, fueled by the hit single "Lady Marmalade," featuring Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Minnie Pearl, which should do more than 80k. The movie, which just premiered at Cannes, opens in New York and L.A. May 18 and nationally May 25.

Island's latest PoMo offering, punk-rappers Sum 41's "All Killer No Filler," is following in the footsteps of American Hi-Fi and Saliva with an impressive first-week that may even top the totals of those two at between 40k-50k.

Black Crowes' V2 label debut, "Lions," looks to do in the 40-50k range as well, with the second installment of the "Sopranos" soundtrack on Columbia/Sony Music Soundtrax, threatening 30k pieces, 15k of which Paulie Walnuts has already dumped on the Russian black market.

Other albums hitting the marketplace include Blues Traveler and Billy Gilman.
