AEROSMITH, EVE WILL GO TOP 5 NEXT WEEK

Dave Matthews Band Continues At #1 After Huge Week, With Shaggy #2
March Madness has begun at retail.

Aerosmith's new Columbia album, "Just Push Play," looks like it's headed to a #3 debut on next week's HITS Top 50, with an OTC around 200k, according to first-day reports from retailers around the country. Eve's Interscope effort, "Scorpion," will land in the Top 5, with an estimated 150k.

Retailers are hedging their bets, though, believing the stormy weather which just blanketed the Eastern part of the country could have a negative effect on sales.

Neither album will unseat the current album leaders. The Dave Matthews Band's RCA album, "Everyday," should do in the 300-350k range after falling off the requisite 50-60% from its huge 750k-plus opening week, while Shaggy's "Hotshot" (MCA) holds tough in the #2 slot, with an outside chance at returning to the top if DMB continues to drop off. The only other notable newcomer is Divine Mill/Arista's Koffee Brown, with a first-week total of 30k.

March 13 sees new releases from Eric Clapton (Reprise), Our Lady Peace (Columbia), Semisonic (MCA) and Daft Punk (Virgin).
