PARAMORE, NOT LESS

Fueled by Ramen Rockers Lead a Parade of Six Debuts in Top 10
Change is in the air, especially at the top of the HITS Album Sales chart, where Fueled by Ramen’s Paramore edges Arista Nashville’s Brad Paisley for the #1 slot, heading a group of four other debuts in the Top 10.

Paramore’s self-titled fourth album, its first since 2009’s Brand New Eyes, scores a total of 104k, just enough to beat back Paisley’s Wheelhouse, and its controversial LL Cool J duet, “Accidental Racist,” which finishes second with 100k.

RCA’s Justin Timberlake finally relinquishes the top spot after three weeks, adding 98k for a total now over 1.5 million, for #3, followed by Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church, who enters at #4 with the live Caught in the Act. WB Nashville’s Blake Shelton rounds out the Top 5 with 60k, while Republic Nashville’s The Band Perry give Country artists four of the Top 6.

Young Money/Cash Money/Republic rapper Tyga’s Hotel California enters at #7, followed by labelmates Volbeat debuting at #8 and Young Money/Cash Money/Republic’s Lil Wayne at #9, helping Monte Lipman’s label clean up with four of the Top 10. Roadrunner’s veteran hard rockers Stone Sour bow at #10 with their fifth album, House of Gold & Bones—Part 2, a sequel to last year’s release.

Other Top 50 newcomers include WB’s Device (#11) and Republic’s dubstep pioneer James Blake (#35), while Brushback/Surfdog’s Eric Clapton (#38) and Reprise’s Josh Groban (#49) both re-enter.

Verve’s Andrea Bocelli is the week’s top gainer, moving #41-23, +63%, while the ACMs led to increases for 19/Arista Nashville’s Carrie Underwood (#43-27, +49%), Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean (#39-29, +28%), Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church Chief (#25-18, +27%), Big Machine’s Tim McGraw (#46-37, +20%), Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan Tailgates & Tanlines (#26-22, +19%) and Little Big Town (#34-25, +19%) and Big Machine/Republic’s Florida Georgia Line (#13, +15%). RCA’s Kelly Clarkson greatest hits album is also up, #44-30, +45%.

Hitting retail today are Island’s Fall Out Boy, G.O.O.D./Republic’s Kid Cudi, Interscope’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nonesuch/4AD’s Iron & Wine, ADA’s Sarah Brightman, WB’s the Flaming Lips, New West’s Steve Earle, RCA’s Snoop Lion and Syco/Columbia’s Olly Murs.
