CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

The Rhythm community says goodbye to another great programmer and all around standup guy, as KSFM Sacramento PD Byron Kennedy takes the leap to the dark side. He’s taken a job as a Country rep for BBR Music Group’s Wheelhouse Records based in Nashville, and will be responsible for a big chunk of the West Coast. Good luck!

YMCMB/Republic's Drake continues his reign on the Rhythm charts. He has three records inside the Top 10, counting “For Free” (We the Best/Epic), the DJ Khaled track, which is essentially all him rapping. His "One Dance," featuring Wizkid & Kyla, is at #3, "Controlla" is at #5, up 680 spins, and the aforementioned "For Free" is now #9, gaining 465 spins. He also has "Too Good," featuring Rihanna, at #31, up 190 spins, and that one’s not even being worked right now. His tour is sure to be one of the biggest this summer. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole will be busy, as Urban, Top 40 and Rhythm stations all scramble to get their hands on show tickets and access to meet-and-greets. They also have T.I. f/Marsha Ambrosius’ "Dope" (Roc Nation) at #16, up 170 spins, and Marc E. Bassy f/G-Eazy’s "You and Me" at #19, gaining 260 new spins this week. Ariana Grande’s "Into You" is this week’s highest-debuting record. At #34, it sees an increase of 385 spins. S-8ighty’s "Halfway" is at #46.

Epic’s Sujit Kundu has Kent Jones’ “Don’t Mind” (We The Best) holding onto the #1 spot. Meanwhile, DJ Khaled f/Drake’s “For Free” is at #9 and Fifth Harmony’s “All in My Head (Flex)” (SYCO) tacks on an additional 310 spins to move to #14 this week. Khaled f/Jay Z & Future’s “I Got the Keys” leaps #32-22, up 460 spins, while Future’s “Wicked” (A1/Freebandz) slides inside the Top 25, thanks to a 200-spin increase. Young Thug & Travis Scott’s “Pick Up the Phone” just misses the chart, landing at #45. Jidenna is back with “Little Bit More” (Wondaland), which impacts 7/25.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White continue to build Beyoncé’s “Sorry.” It was up 155 spins, and moves to #6. Right behind is Calvin Harris f/Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For,” which gains 310 spins. Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” (XL) is having tremendous multi-format success and is at #49. This is definitely one to pay attention to.

Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness have Rihanna’s “Needed Me” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) in the #2 position, up 380 spins, and it’s poised to be the next #1. It’s already printing at #1 on the building chart. YG f/Drake’s “Why You Always Hatin” comes in at #21, up 240 spins, and Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands” (G.O.O.D.) is now at #23, adding another 140 spins to his total. DJ Mustard f/Jeremih & Nicki Minaj’s new one, “Don’t Hurt Me,” impacts 7/25, and Trap Beckham’s “Birthday Chick” is heating up in the mix show now.

Inca and Lori G at RCA see G-Eazy f/Chris Brown’s “Drifting” at #13. It was up 145 spins. Usher f/Young Thug’s “No Limit” climbs to #17, thanks to a 425-spin jump. Sia f/Sean Paul’s “Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle) grabs another 240 spins, en route to landing inside the Top 25. They debut Kid Ink f/Jeremih & Spice’s “Nasty” at #40, as it gains 100 spins. They’re impacting Bryson Tiller’s “Sorry Not Sorry” this week; it’s already at #67.

Capitol’s Dixie Tipton has Niykee Heaton’s “Bad Intentions” at #28, up 75 spins.

And RECORDSJohn Strazza continues to build Trinidad James’ “Just a Lil Thick,” which is at #15, up 170 spins.
