SYCO HIRES A&R EXEC OVERBURY
1/29/18

Warner/Chappell U.K. Senior A&R Manager Tom Overbury is leaving the publisher to join the A&R team at Sony imprint Syco.

In his new role at Syco, Overbury will be working with MD Tyler Brown, Head of A&R Anya Jones and Senior A&R Manager Guy Langley. Brown, who was appointed MD a year ago, is focusing on developing acts that are primed for global success.

"Over the last 10 years, we’re always had one global artist on the roster and my ambition is to have three or four of those at the same time," he told us during an interview for the HITS U.K. Special in November. "We’ll do that by working with talented artists who are authentic and who get involved in the songwriting and creative process."

Over the course of three years at Warner/Chappell, where he was hired by former MD Richard Manners, Overbury worked with and signed songwriting production duo Mac & Phil (The Chainsmokers, Emeli Sandé, James Arthur), songwriter and Syco-signed artist Ina Wroldsen (One Direction, James Arthur, Clean Bandit), Jonny Lattimer (Ellie Goulding) and new London band HMLTD (RCA).

In his role as A&R Manager at BMG, Overbury secured publishing and masters deals with acts including Bring Me the Horizon, You Me At Six and Deaf Havana.

Priority acts at Syco this year include Little Mix, Arthur, Louis Tomlinson, Wroldsen and boy band Pretty Much.
