Let’s get this thing started with a big old shout-out to Hollywood’s Finck and Smith for landing two records in the Top 10 this week in Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack” (#5) and Selena Gomez’s “Come and Get It” (#8, #3 iTunes). Is this a first? Think so, but of course my memory is shot all to hell. Look for Demi on Live with Kelly & Michael (5/27) and Selena on Letterman (5/29). We had a flip at the top of the chart this week as Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors” takes over the #1 slot with label mate P!nk dropping one spot. Look for RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Strazza, Daddio and Cooper to kick it up a notch in driving Chris Brown’s “Fine China” (#28), Ke$ha’s “Crazy Kids” (#34) and Kelly Clarkson’s “People Like Us” (#36) up the chart. Labrinth’s “Beneath Your Beautiful” f/Emeli grabs a huge add at Z100 and Sammy Adams f/Mike Posner’s LA Story” impacts this week, followed by Pitbull’s “Outta Nowhere” on 5/28… It was another big week for Island Def Jam’s Sackheim, Chester and Farag as they close out Mariah Carey’s “#Beautiful” (#19, #2 Most Added, #2 greatest gainer) and Fall Out Boy looking like a sure shot for Top 10. Timeflies “I Choose U” impacts this week and Rihanna f/David Guetta’s “Right Now," with early support at KTFM and WAKS, impacts next week. It’s steady as you go with Nikki Williams’ “Glowing”(#35) and B. Smyth’s “Leggo” picking up major support at WKQI… The Daft Punk “Get Lucky” story just gets more impressive every week with radio play at every format known to man. Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris and Vaughan are closing this one out at Top 40 with a #25-21 move, #4 greatest gainer, #6 Most Added and #10 iTunes. Makes you wonder what the folks at stations NOT playing this one are smoking. Puff-puff-pass, please. I’m really anxious to see how the Rhythmic smash by J. Cole f/Miguel, “Power Trip,” fares this week on impact. WNRW Louisville PD Jonathan Shuford is a believer: “It’s the perfect-sounding record for Rhythmic pop stations, a big reactor that gives us an edge over our competitors.” An appearance on Fallon (5/21) should add a little fuel to the fire. Calvin Harris f/Ellie Goulding’s “I Need Your Love” moves #28-25 and Emblem3’s “Chloe (You’re the One That I Want)” is now on over 40 stations, adding B96 Chicago to the list… Republic Records Walk, Spangler and Russell keep the crossover torch burning brightly on Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” (#12, #6 iTunes). It’s safe to say Top 10 is next for this one and every week Ariana Grande’s “The Way” (#15) is right behind, gaining a #7 Most Added and #10 greatest gainer this week. Anna Kendrick’sCups” moves #30-27 and keeps picking up majors like WIHT, WXKS and KMXV. Katy Tiz’s “Red Cup” is just out with early spins at WIOQ, WKFS and KMVQCapitol Music Group’s Thompson, Reese and Rainey come roaring out of the gate with a #1 Most Added week on J. Lo’s “Live It Up” (#30). Look for a fast close on this one. Emeli Sande's "Next to Me" (#19-17) is the little engine that could, creeping up the chart week after week and Alternative hit Capital Cities’ “Safe and Sound” is on the verge of a chart debut, picking up quality stations like Z100, KKRZ, KDWB and WRVW each week. A little birdie tells me the word out of Y100 Miami is that callout is huge. Could this be the week that WB’s Gray, Dyer, Pivar and Reich grab that elusive top slot for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us” currently at #3? They have to jump two records to do it. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, Jason Derulo’s “The Other Side” #16 is making a push for the Top 10… Epic’s Saturn, Halpern and Dimig are starting to see a callout story developing on Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s to Never Growing Up” #20. Sean Kingston’s “Beat It” has early action on over 40 stations, including KHTS, KBFF and KHHM and A Great Big World’s “This Is the New Year” is having early success at both WHYI and KSLZ… Music We Love: Pitbull’s “Outta Nowhere” and Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather”
