UMG TV SERIES A DIVE INTO THE VAULTS

The recent deep dive Universal Music Group took into its vaults to inventory its holdings has resulted in a 10-episode series about legendary artists such as Bob Marley, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye and The Who.

Titled—what else?—Deep Dive, the nonfiction series from Time Studios, Polygram Entertainment and Known Originals celebrates the treasures discovered in the famed Iron Mountain storage facility located in a former limestone mine in Boyers, Pennsylvania (a 1.7 million sq. ft. repository with climate controlled areas protected by armed guards) and UMG’s vaults around the world.

Directed by Doug Pray (The Defiant Ones, Lizzo) and produced by Matthew Weaver (Rock of Ages, Jiro Dreams of Sushi), the series unearths the previously untold stories of original recordings, never-before-seen photo negatives, filmed performances, album art and music videos that had long been only rumored to exist.

Deep Dive celebrates the iconic artists, the untold stories and the passionate people who devote their lives to preserving and finding new audiences for those treasures,” said UMG Head of Film and Television Development and Production David Blackman, an executive producer of the series.

UMG’s Will Tanous, Michele Anthony and Bruce Resnikoff are also executive producers of the project with Time Studios’ Ian Orefice, Lynne Benioff and Jeff Smith and Known Originals’ Brad Roth and Ross Martin.

“Being able to unveil incredible findings through unfiltered and insightful storytelling is what we strive for with each and every Time Studios project,” said Orefice, president & COO of Time and Time Studios. “Deep Dive does just that, and we are confident that both music fans and history lovers alike will revel in the mysteries uncovered in each episode.”
