RATIONAL ANTHEM

Warner Bros. Records boss Cameron Strang has a moment with ex-NFL QB and activist Colin Kaepernick. The latter was saluted by the ACLU at its recent Bill of Rights dinner in L.A., receiving the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award; his decision to "take a knee" during the National Anthem has had a seismic impact on the national discussion about civil rights, police brutality and other issues but ultimately cost him his job. Further details about the award and the evening can be found here. Strang is a longtime, vocal supporter of the ACLU.

Monroe, the award's namesake, was a California educator fired in 1950 for refusing to sign a McCarthyite loyalty oath.

In an unrelated story, a HITS editor also "took a knee" recently, though in a very different way. He's now resting semi-comfortably with an ice pack.
