IT’S OFFICIAL: SAM SMITH IS BIGGER THAN THE BEATLES

Capitol crooner Sam Smith has today made history in the U.K., as his debut record In The Lonely Hour notches up its 67th consecutive week in the Official Albums Chart Top 10. It’s the longest unbroken run ever for a debut album, and knocks The Beatles and Emeli Sande off the top spot (Please Please Me spent 62 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 and held the record for almost 50 years, while Sande's Our Version Of Events spent 66 consecutive weeks in the Official UK Albums Top 10 in 2013).

In The Lonely Hour reached #1 with opening week sales of 101k on its release in May 2014.

Smith is “completely and utterly moved and overwhelmed” and will be "telling his grandkids and their grandkids too,” if he lives to be 130 years old.
