BBC RADIO 1'S BIG WEEKEND WELCOMES MUSE, FOOS, SAM, MORE

Muse and Foo Fighters will headline successive days of BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend fest in Norwich next month, with Sam Smith, Rita Ora, George Ezra, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy and 5 Seconds of Summer among the acts joining previously announced performers Taylor Swift and Florence + the Machine on the main stage.

The news came on Scott Mills' Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Kippers were served during the broadcast, because what's breakfast without kippers?

The In Music We Trust stage, meanwhile, will feature Snoop Dogg, Hozier, James Bay, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Raury, Catfish & the Bottlemen and Rudimental, among others. The announcement for the BBC Introducing Stage will be read on the air soon.

The event, now in its 12th year and co-sponsored by the Beeb and the Norwich City Council, goes down in the city's Earlham Park on 5/23-24. It will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra and streamed online. All performances will be viewable subsequently via the BBC iPlayer.

Last year saw 50k tickets for the event—billed as "Europe's biggest free ticketed festival"—gone in 40 minutes. During the run-up to the Weekend, R1 and BBC Learning will offer shows, classes and Q&As to area youth considering a broadcasting career. Details on that here.

Speaking of Radio 1, you'll find the latest action (brought to you by the fine folks at Radio Monitor) here, with more U.K. data under the radio tab.
