SONGS LABEL SAGA BEGINS

The brand new, as-yet unnamed label co-founded by SONGS Publishing’s Matt Pincus and Ron Perry and industry vet Barry Weiss is now underway, with Weiss spending his first day in the office this week. The company is still lining up distribution (rumors that Sony had locked that down were unfounded), but has hired Christine Chiappetta to handle Alternative and Triple A promotion—and is looking for a Pop/Rhythm radio specialist. Stay tuned.
