Facebook-Spotify Linking Up?

FACEBOOK-SPOTIFY MARRIAGE? Facebook has partnered with Spotify for a music-streaming service that could be launched in as little as two weeks, according to Forbes magazine. When launched, Facebook users will see a Spotify icon on the left side of their news feed which will install the service on the desktop in the background, allowing users play from Spotify’s library of millions of songs with their friends over the social network. The new service will be called “Facebook Music” or “Spotify on Facebook,” but will only be available for Facebook users in countries where Spotify has a presence, excluding, at this point, the U.S. until a deal is struck here. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly a big fan of the music subscription service. No money is changing hands with this partnership, but the benefits to both are obvious, as the two companies share a number of investors. (5/25p)
