SoundExchange hires CTO

HE’S NO FOOL: On the heels of Jonathan Bender’s appointment as COO, SoundExchange has named Scott Day as Chief Technology Officer. He was previously the CTO of The Motley Fool, and before that he worked at In-Q-Tel, an investment firm backed by the CIA. (Wonder what he thinks of Homeland?) Said Prexy Michael Huppe: “Naturally, as both the organization and digital music services continue to grow, we will constantly strive to improve our methods for tracking and distributing payments from over a thousand services to even more artists and labels. I’m confident that Scott will be a tremendous asset in this regard.” Many have denigrated SoundExchange as a scam, but the org says it has paid out more than $800 million in royalties since its launch in 2000.
