Petty stolen guitars recovered

DON’T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE: The five guitars stolen from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers over the weekend have been recovered by the police. Daryl Emmette Washington, 51, a private security guard at The Culver Studios lot, was arrested. Chief Don Pedersen said the break in the case came when the suspect pawned one of the guitars at a Hollywood shop for $250. In a statement issued on Said Petty in a post on his site, "I am extremely grateful to the Culver City Police Department for a job well done, and touched by the outpouring of good wishes and concern from our fans and friends." The stolen axes, collectively valued at north of $100k, were a 1967 blonde 12-string Rickenbacker, a ’67 Epiphone Sheridan, a ’65 Gibson SG TV Jr., a Fender Broadcaster and a Dusenberg Mike Campbell Model, which belonged to Campbell himself. The gee-tars were recovered just in time—Petty and his cohorts kick off their tour tonight in Broomfield, CO. (4/18a)
