FTC approves Sony-EMP

ALL SYSTEMS GO: It’s now official. The Federal Trade Commission has just approved the $2.2 billion acquisition of EMI Music Publishing by Sony and several investment funds, including United Arab Emirates-based Mubadala Development Co. The deal got conditional approval from the European Commission—pending certain divestments—in April. That means Marty Bandier’s quest to regain control of the pubco he built into the most dominant and valuable in the sector is now complete. We spark one up in your honor, dude. (6/29a)
