SLIM SHADY TO THE SILVER SCREEN

Typecast As A White Rapper
Best-selling rapper Eminem will make his big-screen debut in an still untitled feature, loosely based on his life, for producer Brian Grazer and Universal Pictures-based Imagine Entertainment.

The Hollywood Reporter said no director is attached to the project, which is being written by director-scribe Scott Silver ("johns," "The Mod Squad"). The story follows a young white rapper growing up in Detroit who struggles to find a unique voice.

The script also will allow Eminem to perform in three or four musical sequences. Eminem will write the music with his mentor and producer Dr. Dre.

The project will provide an opportunity for synergy between Universal's film and music divisions. Universal Music Group brought Eminem to the attention of Grazer.

In a related story, "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," starring Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees , is not yet available on DVD.
